As summer winds down, we’re getting ready to bring you another exciting Serie “A” season and we get things started with a top-notch doubleheader on Sunday featuring Sampdoria-Inter and Fiorentina-Juventus.
I’m really excited to have the opportunity to do play-by-play on the upcoming Nutrilite Canadian Championship game between Toronto FC and Montreal Impact.
Denial, disappointment, defiance. That’s the range of emotions that swept over me as I watched the Italy-Spain quarterfinal unwind to its inevitable conclusion. Within minutes of the end of the match, it was clear that there were no excuses to be made for the Azzurri. This was not a performance an Italian supporter could be proud of.
That was certainly not the Italian National Team we expected against the Netherlands in Bern the other night. That team started the game in a clumsy, awkward manner and turned the ball over numerous times in the early stages of the game. They seemed nervous and hesitant, traits uncharacteristic of a defending World champion.
Euro 2008 starts this weekend and I am pumped! So many intriguing first round matchups and I don’t know how I’m going to watch them all but I sure will try. Only an act of God will pry me away from the TV!
