Get your fix of street salsa and all that Latin culture has to offer as the Hillcrest Village BIA, the Wychwood Heights BIA, TLN Television & the City of Toronto heat up the summer with the 3rd annual Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival.

In light of the overwhelming success of the Salsa on St Clair Street Festival, attracting over 500,000 Canadians to the streets of Toronto since its launch in 2005, TLN, in partnership with the City of Toronto, is thrilled to announce that this year’s Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival will be even bigger and better.

As the official launch of Latino Week in Toronto, this FREE family street party celebrating Toronto’s Latin cultures will turn over 200,000 square feet of midtown Toronto, just west of Bathurst Street between Winona Drive and Wychwood Avenue, into a showcase of Latin life: pulsating music, passionate dancing, fiery foods, a Latin market, a children’s area and for the first time ever an interactive soccer zone.

Join revelers in celebrating the world’s greatest game at this summer’s biggest soccer street party where participants can test their soccer skills and enjoy various soccer exhibitions. PLUS a live broadcast of the Copa America final will be broadcast on large TV screens imbedded throughout the festival area on Sunday afternoon.

“Salsa on St. Clair has helped to put this neighborhood on the map,” said Victor Cappella, Co-Chairman of the Hillcrest Village BIA. “We’re expecting even bigger things this year."

“We’re ecstatic that Salsa on St. Clair is getting bigger and growing into our neighbourhood,” said Tony Bassels, the chair of the Wychwood Heights BIA, which for the first time will house a newly expanded Children’s Area at the event. “Bring the kids, enjoy the food, the people, the music – it’s going to be hot!”

This year’s festival will again be hosted by Ismael Cala, Miami-based CNN anchor and the host of TLN Television’s Calando A. The media partners for the event include 99.1 FM CBC Radio One Toronto and Yahoo! Canada.

Ward 21 Toronto City Councillor Joe Mihevc added, “I'm thrilled as always to be a part of Salsa on St. Clair. Local restaurateurs and storeowners are already getting geared up for a very busy weekend.”

Este festival es una realidad gracias al esfuerzo mancomunado del BIA (Business Improvement Association) de Hillcrest Village, el BIA de Wychwood Heights, TLN Telelatino y la Ciudad de Toronto.

Con el exitoso precedente de las ediciones pasadas del Festival Salsa on St Clair, las cuales han atraído a más de 500.000 canadienses a las calles de Toronto desde su lanzamiento en 2005, TLN, en asociación con la Ciudad de Toronto, se complace en anunciar que el festival de este año será más grande y mejor.

Siendo el marco oficial para inaugurar la semana latina de Toronto, este festival familiar GRATUITO convertirá más de 200.000 pies cuadrados del “midtown” de Toronto (al oeste de Bathurst Street entre Winona Drive y Wychwood Avenue) en un área de exposición de la vida latina en Canadá: música, baile, platos deliciosos, un mercado latino, un espacio infantil y por la primera vez una zona interactiva de fútbol.

Únase a cientos de entusiastas en la celebración del deporte más importante del mundo en la fiesta futbolística más grande de este verano, donde los asistentes podrán poner a prueba sus habilidades y disfrutar de exhibiciones de balompié. ADEMÁS, la transmisión en vivo de la final de la Copa América el domingo en la tarde estará disponible a través de pantallas de TV instaladas a lo largo y ancho del festival.

“Salsa on St. Clair ha contribuido a poner nuestro vecindario en el mapa,” comenta Victor Cappella, co-presidente del BIA de Hillcrest Village. “Esperamos que este año sea más grande."

“Estamos muy contestos de que Salsa on St. Clair crezca y se extienda hacia nuestro vecindario,” expresa Tony Bassels, presidente del BIA de Wychwood Heights, el cual por primera vez acogerá la nueva expansión del área infantil del evento. “Traigan a sus hijos, disfruten de la comida, la gente, la música, ¡va a estar que arde!”

La edición de este año del festival será conducida nuevamente por Ismael Cala, el presentador de noticias de CNN y animador del programa original de TLN Telelatino: Calando A. Los medios patrocinadores oficiales del evento son 99.1 FM CBC Radio One Toronto y Yahoo! Canada.

El concejal del distrito 21 de la ciudad de Toronto, Joe Mihevc declara “Estoy emocionado, como siempre, de ser parte de Salsa on St. Clair. Los restaurantes y comercios de la zona ya se están preparando para un fin de semana muy ocupado.”
