Rocco Rossi, CEO for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, over the past weekend, completed his
quest to scale the heights of the world's tallest mountain without venturing outside city limits. By climbing the city's
seven tallest office towers several times over the span of three day weekend, until he has climbed the equivalent of Mount
Everest. Over the course of the long weekend, he has climbed nearly 60,000 steps, the equivalent of 29,028 feet. The "7
Summits" challenge will help him raise funds for the foundation's Automated External Defibrillator program.
You can watch all the action as it unfolds. TLN Television provided Rocco with a Helmet Cam, which allowed him to record his entire trek. You can watch all his video diary’s and updates from Rocco Rossi himself. Watch all the excitement only at TLNTV.COM!
More about the challenge:
Every year 35,000 to 45,000
Canadians suffer cardiac arrest, mostly outside of hospital settings. The odds of surviving an out-of-hospital arrest are a
dismal 5%. The good news is, early treatment with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), coupled with early CPR, can
restart a heart and boost survival rates to 50% or more. Hello, I am Rocco Rossi, CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Ontario and through '7 Summits' and 'The Everest Challenge' our goal is to raise more than $1 million for AEDs in communities
across Ontario.
7 Summits
For mountain climbers, the ultimate feat is conquering the 7 Summits - the tallest peaks of the seven continents. In our
event, the challenge is to climb the stairs of the seven tallest office towers in Toronto to raise funds for AEDs - The 7
Summits.
The Everest Challenge
The twist is that I will climb each tower often enough over one weekend so that my total climb will equal the height of Mt.
Everest - The Everest Challenge. This involves climbing all 7 towers 5 times each and then climbing 2 of them once more, to
achieve a total height of 29, 028 feet.
