And for this year's programming, the festival got the support of Mr. José Ortega, co-owner and artistic director of Lula Lounge, and a connoisseur of all genres of Latin music, to showcase the best talent at the festival. Originally from Ecuador, Mr. Ortega resides in Toronto and New York. He is an artist whose work has received numerous awards and articles-including those from Society of Ilustrators, American Ilustration, Print, Communication Arts and Graphics. His club, Lula Lounge, is considered to be Toronto's home to Latin and wolrd music. Laura Fernández
Salsa in Toronto is proud to have Ms. Fernández as a co-host for this year's events. Singer, songwriter and artist, Laura Fernandez was born in Madrid, Spain, and spent her youth in Clagary, Alberta. Now a resident in Toronto, she is currently the host of Café Latino on jazz FM. True to her international roots Laura writes songs in English as well as Spanish. Her style is blend of classical, jazz pop and world music anchored by intimate and heartfelt lyrics. She is currently preparing to record a Spanish album in Cuba where she just perfomed at the World Music Festival in Varadero and a follow up CD in the English language as well. Ms. Fernández
brings her charisma. enthusiasm and professionalism to Salsa in Toronto helping to make this event one that will be hard to forget. |
