THE
INCREDIBLE WORLD CUP STORY
Documentary – English subtitles
Sun. July 11th at 6:00pm
Shot in Brazil, England, Spain, Italy, Uruguay and Argentina, this documentary tells the story, of the
incredible and mysterious events surrounding the Jules Rimet Trophy, from 1928 to the present using
filmed reconstructions, archive materials and interviews with witnesses and experts. Forged in gold to honor Jules Rimet
in 1930, the history of the cup, which dates back a century and crosses the entire planet, is full of surprises and
intrigues worthy of a spy story set in Rome, in the slums of Rio de Janeiro and in the city of London. It was hidden in a
shoebox under the bed of the director of the Italian Federation Ottorino Barassi, to escape the searches of the Nazis
during the Second World War.
